What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of alternate medicine that dates back to the 1700’s. Homeopathy is based on the principal of ‘like with like’. That is, a substance which causes symptoms when taken in large doses can be used in small amounts to treat those same symptoms. The homeopathy system of medicine involves treating patients with a highly diluted version of a substance, with the aim of triggering the body’s natural healing process. The science behind homeopathy carefully combines dilution and succession, where each medicine is made to the specific symptoms and needs of each patient. Homeopathy is currently used by over 500 million people worldwide, making it the second most widely used form of medicine in the world.
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is a holistic approach to medicine and healthy living. The ancient science that was developed in India, stresses the use of organic, plant-based medicines and remedies. Ayurveda is widely understood to be the Vedic “science of life”. The ancient system of medicine understands health in terms of a constitutional model according to which, our bodies are a mixture of five key energy forces. A balance of three of these forces – Vatta, Pitta and Kapha, is integral to maintain all round wellness. It is an imbalance in these elements that affect body channels and tissues, in turn causing illnesses and ailments. The aim of Ayurveda is to provide guidance regarding specially designed treatments, food and lifestyle that restore balance in the basic elements, so that health can be optimized and illnesses healed.
